Introduction: (Big5 Chinese)

XCIN (X Chinese INput) is an XIM (X Input Method) server which is widely used in Taiwan to perform Chinese input under X Window system. It is originally developed by Edward Der-Hua Liu (Oct. 1994) and many other programmers in early days; while now it is supported by the XCIN Project (since Feb. 1998).

This project is started by Tung-Han Hsieh and Chia-liang Kao, and now maintained by Tung-Han Hsieh. Because being developed for a long time in the early years, many people have added their codes and contributions into XCIN. This made the source code being massy and hard to maintian. Furthermore, the original XCIN releases does not support the XIM protocol. This makes it difficult to input Chinese into the X Window applications. Hence, here comes the idea of starting this project to redesign and maintain it.
